Assiniboine Park Zoo: High School Program “Arctic Field Research”
120 minute program
The Earth has a long history of climate change, but we are now entering into a new epoch – the Anthropocene. In order to understand the consequences of this human induced climate change and make informed wildlife management decisions, researchers are gathering as much information as possible. But studying populations in the sub-Arctic and Arctic has its challenges. Join us as we get some hands-on experience in field techniques that researchers use to study animal populations and explore how that information is used to inform management and conservation efforts. Maximum 30 students/program.
Learning Outcomes: Grade 7 Science and Social Science, Grade 10 Science
