The Manitoba Museum’s group programs are geared to travel planners, receptive and tour operators, providing educational and customized programs to suit your needs. If northern Manitoba is your destination, we have a collection of programs and behind the scenes tours geared for your group. These programs look at both the human and natural history of the region.

NORTHERN EXPOSURE

Discover the north. Delve into the Inuit culture, experience the aurora borealis, and go behind the scenes with the curator in the Hudson’s Bay Company Museum Collection to explore Inuit art objects rarely seen by the public.

Gain an appreciation and skill of an Inuit artisan. Learn the importance of expressions of culture and identity while creating, shaping and polishing your own soapstone pendant to take home.

The flora and fauna of any given region are usually explained in biological terms to include the genus and species of plant and animal life, their preferred growing or breeding habits, and their connection to one another in the environment.

BEHIND THE SCENES OF THE GREAT CANADIAN FUR TRADE

Begin your Great Canadian Fur Trade adventure on the waterfront of 17th century England here you will travel back in time to Deptford England, and experience the life of a sailor bound for the New World.

COMPANY OF ADVENTURERS

Tour the Hudson’s Bay Company Gallery to gain an appreciation of how the large themes of fur trade history were experienced by the people involved in the trade.

WATER AND ICE - SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES

Sit back in the Planetarium and travel to the Arctic and Antarctic regions of our planet with the presentation Ice Worlds. Examine Antarctic ecosystems and learn how their survival is connected with our own. As lake stewards using a computer simulation of the Lake Winnipeg Watershed, you decide what problems to solve and see how your decisions affect the health of the lake, the economic and social impact.
