Few ballet companies can claim such an exciting and varied past as Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet. From its humble beginnings as the Winnipeg Ballet Club, the company has been a vital part of Winnipeg’s history for the past 75 years, making it the second oldest ballet company in North America.

A tour of our building offers a chance to see some of the hard work that goes into producing the beautiful and inspiring ballets that touch people’s hearts. The building houses the company, the artistic and production staff, the wardrobe and all the necessary administration, as well as the school with its recreational and professional divisions and a student residence next door. Depending on the daily schedule, you may get to see the lobby, studios, physiotherapy, lounges, wardrobe and shoe room. You may also get the chance to see part of a company or professional division student class or rehearsal. Tours are guided by members of our Alumni Association who were themselves professional dancers with our company. Get a sneak peek into a dancer’s daily life and learn about our company’s history and all the daily happenings of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Tours last approximately one hour. The cost is $5 per person payable in cash or cheque to the RWB Alumni Association.
