Nestled in the heart of Winnipeg, Assiniboine Park & Zoo is the perfect place to relax and play year-round with attractions that blend physical activity, sight-seeing, dining and wildlife into one unforgettable experience. Take a walk through one of the many gardens, enjoy a beautiful view of the Riley Family Duck Pond as you grab a bite to eat at the Park Cafe or meet the polar bears at Assiniboine Park Zoo’s world-class signature experience Journey to Churchill. Assiniboine Park & Zoo is a vibrant world of activity every day and every season.

With nearly 200 species, the Zoo is a great place for exploration and family fun. Open year-round, with both indoor and outdoor venues, the Zoo is home to Journey to Churchill, a 10-acre Arctic and northern species exhibit, where visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with Manitoba’s most famous animals – polar bears! It is home to musk ox, snowy owls, Arctic fox, seals and polar bears. Through interpretive signage, interactive displays, and audio-visual components, Journey to Churchill educates visitors on the impact of climate change and the importance of biodiversity, conservation, and research. The exhibit is an educational classroom like no other, inviting exploration, challenging thinking and promoting personal action.

The McFeetors Heavy Horse Centre covers 4.7 acres and is home to five Percheron horses year-round, includes a barn, pastures, paddocks and a carriage shed. Visitors have the opportunity to experience barn tours and learn about the pioneer era of our province’s history, when heavy horse power was relied on in industries such as agriculture, forestry, mining, and road construction.

At Toucan Ridge visitors are invited to explore a new world tropical oasis featuring plants and animals from South and Central America. The indoor exhibit is a tropical paradise, overflowing with lush vegetation, and a variety of birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles. A range of exotic animals is also featured throughout the Zoo such as Gibbons, tigers, camels, snow leopards, cougars and more!

Group tours of Journey to Churchill, the Zoo, gardens and art galleries are available throughout the year.  Lifelong learning memories are also created through our hands-on  interactive programs connecting participants to our natural world through art and science showcasing culinary delights and gardens.

Admission to the Park is free with the exception of the Zoo and group tour programs (advance booking required for programming and guided tours).
