In 2020, celebrate Manitoba 150 by visiting Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park, the place where, in 1850, they voted to create the Province of Manitoba and to enter the confederacy of Canada. Today this revitalized and re-energized site uses interpretation, art and technology to bring it's history to life in new and interesting ways - including in 11 different languages. Plinths mark the site of buildings and the 440 foot long corten steel wall with its interwoven threads of history and artistic icons highlight key moments in time from early indigenous people through to modern times. (Canada's largest free-standing public art installation) The sound and light shows add another story telling element. Whether young or someone with experience, Upper Fort Garry offers a fun, new approach to history and a welcome green spot in the heart of the City. Go to www:upperfortgarry.com for free apps that open the door to the site and it's many voices. Download the apps to your phone or tablet and the history of the fort's buildings and historical icons on the Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Heritage Wall will be right in your hand in 11 languages - English, French, Cree, Ojibwa, Ukrainian, German, Arabic, Tagalog, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese.  A unique spot in Canada's history with a fresh and welcoming approach.
